Dubai’s Hotel Construction Pipeline Reaches 100,000 Rooms

A new report by TOPHOTELPROJECTS reveals that 168 hotels and 110,691 hotel rooms are currently in the vision, planning, construction, and pre-opening stages across the emirate, maintaining its long-standing position as the busiest city for hotel construction in the Middle East. The majority of new properties are forecast to open before 2020, with 2018 scheduled to be a particularly busy year.

According to Dubai Tourism, Dubai’s existing hotel inventory reached 100,000 rooms in 2016. The new report highlights that the fast-growing city is well on its way to double this figure in the next five years.

The brands identified by the report as having the most hotels currently in the construction pipeline across Dubai are: aloft Hotels (Marriott International), Rotana Hotels & Resorts (Rotana Hotel Management) and Radisson Blu (Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group).

Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group currently has 11 hotels under construction totaling almost 3,000 rooms in Dubai. This growth is spread across its Radisson Blu, Park Inn by Radisson and Radisson RED brands.

Three of the new Carlson Rezidor properties will open in Dubai this year are Radisson Blu Hotel Dubai Waterfront (Q4 2017), Park Inn by Radisson Dubai Motor City (Q4 2017) and Park Inn by Radisson Dubai Al Jadaf (Q4 2017.
